Waziri Shawl

Waziristan is in the Northeast province of Pakistan, a remote area bordering Afghanistan. The local weaving tradition often combines silk and cotton in striped designs. Weavers usually design these textiles to have  dark indigo cotton ground stripes alternating with colorful silk and further   bright silk accents. Makers will sometimes add some embroidery to the finished textile. Waziri shawls are worn by both men .
