Uncut Embroidered Silk Edgings

This is a panel of uncut embroidered silk edgings made in China in the 19th century. The blue silk panel is embroidered with rounds and diagonal stripes featuring flowers and butterflies. These stripes and rounds were intended to be cut and used as garment borders, but for some reason they were never cut apart and used.
