Thai Embroidered Panel

This Thai embroidered panel was made in the 21st century. The ground fabric is blue cotton that the textile artist has embroidered with many short white stitches in a series of overlapping fan patterns. The artist pulled these stitches tightly, giving the cloth a ribbed texture within each fan shape, which creates an interesting added layer of visual depth to the textile.
