Striped Waziri Shawl

Waziristan is in the Northeast province of Pakistan, a remote area bordering Afghanistan. The local weaving tradition combines silk and cotton in striped design. The main supportive ground is usually dark indigo cotton while the silk provides the bright accents. Sometime there is also some embroidery. Waziri shawls are originally worn by men.
