Palestinian Embroidered Yoke

The yoke, which is the focal point of the Palestinian dress is often detachable so it can be applied to newer dresses. This yoke of light cream colored cotton is heavily embroidered in red silk with some black detailing.

The design is European influenced but not Western European, grand tour taste but rather Eastern European designs, brought to Palestine by Jewish settlers in late 19th-early 20th century.
