Ottoman Towel or Kerchief Fragment

Towels or kerchiefs decorated with chintz and embroidery are rare. They usually have their motifs overlapping, an effect similar to the Uzbek suzani and ikat combination. In this even rarer example the two techinques are incorporated in a single design with the block printing in the field and the embroidery at the narrow ends.
