Mock Nizuri Panel.

The mountainous northern Honshu produced a very distinct type of embroidery. Developed originally to reinforce the vulnerable parts of everyday garments, the embroidery is applied in a very exacting long counted stitching. On this panel the design was applied with a supplementary weft, easy to see as the small squares of different patterns all conform to the weft and warp directions.
