Miniature Dogon Ladder

Dogon ladders were used to reach granaries, or climb on the flat roofs of houses. This is a miniature version of that ladder, and would be used purely for spiritual purposes. It would be placed on an altar, leaning against the jar containing the souls of the family ancestors. The ladder would help the recently departed climb to the afterlife, and join their forefathers.

Made of carved wood with nicely patinated surfaces.
