A wedding shawl from the Kutch province of Gujarat, where some of arguably the best of Indian embroidery is made. The gold-brown silk satin is worked with yellow, brown and gold chain stitch embroidery and tiny mirror work. Small, seven-petal flowers fill the field which is dominated by a large abstract floral center medallion. Originally a shawl, it is now padded and backed with yellow silk which also frames it.
