Ikat Indigo Women’s Wrap

A woman’s wrap from Igarra, a city in central Nigeria famous for its women weavers who specialize in dyeing wide handspun cotton in complex warp ikat technique. It is in fact the only region in Nigeria producing ikat. Most common would be the indigo and yellow such as this one, while the indigo white combination is more rare. This piece is a curious transitional piece as it uses natural indigo and chemical blue side by side.
