Gara Sari
Sari of light blue silk embroidered with a diamond lattice enclosing abstracted flowers; the borders feature peacocks amid dense floral ground. The design is executed with a muted palette of floss silk embroidered in satin stitch.Saris like this were embroidered by Chinese artisans in the town of Surat in Gujarat for the Parsee women of that region.The Parsees are a Zoroastrian community in the Indian subcontinent. They are non muslim Persians that were driven away from Iran when it became Islamic.
