Ceremonial woven raffia skirt decorated with appliqued raffia in largely geometrical shapes.The motifs all have names and symbolic meanings.The ceremonial occassions for which Kuba skirts were produced are quite rare nowadays and they are mostly used as burial cloths, with an emphasis on the quality to indicate status.
