Embroidered Purse

This embroidered purse was made in China in the 19th century. It is an oval pouch of orange silk embroidered in Peking knot (or the Forbidden Stitch, which was outlawed because it made its practitioners go blind). The motif is a foo dog with two sequins for eyes.
