Embroidered Mirror Cloth

A cover of somewhat more recent vintage that made it into our collection due to its inventiveness and exquisite craftsmanship.

Birds, peacocks, camels, flowers, and geometric shapes decorate this brightly colored Kutch textile. Most of the color work is done in a double-sided blanket stitch and the black outlines are chain stitched. Shisha work secures the mirrors in place, and a tacked down string of beads lines the outer border. Fuzzy fringed borders outline the different images and sections of geometric patterns.
