Santos Carved Figure of the Christ Child

This is a santos carved figure of the Christ Child made in Guatemalan in the 19th century. It is a realistically painted wooden Baby Jesus figure with articulated shoulders and elbows, clothed in white swaddling cloth and mounted on a clear Plexiglas stand. It was probably used in a nativity tableaux or in a religious altar. The figure appears to have had a more elaborate wardrobe at one point and seems to have had something on its head that is now lost, possibly a halo.
