Festival Jacket

This wool cofradia jacket from Solola shows the blend of Spanish and Guatemalan styles during the 20th century. The fit has a more European style, and the appliqué details use traditional Mayan motifs, such as the bat on the back of the shoulders. The bat references the sacred Maya underworld.
The ground is made of vibrant red wool with black wool and silk appliqué.
