Thai Manuscript Cover

Few of the old manuscript wrappers have survived the regular ritual cleansing of the monasteries in northern Thailand where the sacred books are stored, and very few manuscripts of the type that gets wrapped in this manner are made nowadays.
Zigzag designs, natural dyes, and two lateral edges hemmed with natural color cotton make up this piece. The design of this type of manuscript cover is achieved by twining warp of bamboo slats with wefts of colored cotton.
