Palestinian Dress Yoke

The yoke, which is the focal point of the Palestinian dress is often detachable. This yoke is embroidered on selvedge to selvedge white linen. The embroidery is worked with lustrous red with black details, all applied in cross-stitch in motifs considered European. Nowadays the prevailing opinion is that they were influenced by Eastern European designs brought to Palestine by Jewish settlers in late 19th-early 20th century.
