Dida Ceremonial Skirt

The Dida tribe of Ivory Coast are traditionally fishermen.For ceremonial occasion they plait strands of fiber into loincloths, tubular skirts, mantles and kerchiefs. These then get embellished by a tie- dye process of extreme virtuosity into fields of densely packed circles, ovals, rectangles and dots; allways in warm earthtones.
