| Uzbek Silk Tentband |
A silk panel woven in a floating warp technique by nomadic people using a simple, narrow, pegged to the ground loom.The result is warp faced, lightweight, one foot wide silk band. Originally a tentband that was wrapped around the inside of tent on the divide between the ceiling and wall panels.
This fragment of a band is cut and comprised into a flatweave floor or bed cover.It has beautiful early colors and a clear design scheme.
Striped flatweaves of Central Asian origin are commonly known as Jajim or Ghudjeri.
