Indian Caryatid
Carved and polychrome wood angel; in standing position , wearing a crown and holding a pair of drums. Western influenced angels penetrated the Indian subcontinent through the colonial outposts of Goa and Pondicheri and became part of hindu mythology. This angel was originally a bracket supporting a covered walkway around an inner yard.
